Cathedral Block

Another busy day crafting! Today I went to Material Girls to pick up a moda charm pack (I got the Verna design) to experiment with making baby blocks..... I'm obsessed with the moda layer cakes and charm packs, I love seeing how many different things I can make with the pre-cut squares.. Anyways, I decided to tackle a cathedral square block but modernized it by only machine sewing it instead of hand sewing most of it. Personally, I like the look of the contrasting thread better. Three hours later and The block is finished! It's super cute but I don't know about making them to sell, comparing them to like products
I would be selling them for about $60 each and like I said they're cute, but I don't know if they're $60 cute! Maybe tomorrow I'll modify them and make them a little simpler. Thanks for looking, let me know what you think!

Starting 2011 off right!!

Let me start off by saying how much I love being a mom to my awesome daughter Sophia who will turn 10 months old in just a few days!! Thanks to her being so spoiled and difficult (not complaining) I am now able to be a stay at home mom (because no one else will watch her haha) instead of going back to a job I didn't enjoy. It has also given me the time a motivation to take my craft business to the next level... Growing up my Mom, who is the most amazing person I know, was always doing art projects with me and my friends. 23 years later it is now my obsession and fingers crossed my new source of income. I started really getting into scrapbooking and card making a couple years ago but soon it just felt too easy and wasn't challenging enough so I started sewing little wall hangings and such. I took sewing classes as a kid (which i disliked so much I mysteriously became ill every Tuesday evening) but other than that I didn't know a whole lot about it. I have such a love/hate relationship with sewing... I hate it because it didn't come easily to me as most things did, but that's also why I love it. There's nothing like the satisfaction I get from sewing something that actually looks good! So, once again thanks the my muse Sophia, I started sewing baby items such as stroller quilts, bibs, ribbon tag toys, and my most popular item little stuffed toy whales and owls (which I call Owly Friends). I also made little wooden banks, jewelry boxes, wall art, and cards just to keep things fresh. I first sold my stuff at a bazaar this past November and thankfully my stuff sold, just the validation I was looking for. The past month I worked up the nerves to bring some of my stuff to my favorite baby boutique in town called Cribs, Cradles, and Things to see if they were interested in carrying some of my creations and what do you know they bought almost everything I brought in. I can't explain how happy I was to have some of my stuff on the shelves of one of my favorite stores! Well, I hope my first attempt at blogging wasn't too long and boring, but hopefully now you're caught up and you'll continue to follow my craft endeavour.... I'm tellin ya, 2011 is gonna be a good year :)
